haunted house

For Halloween this year I decorated my first 3-D cake. I was surprised how easy it was to put the cake together, granted it was a simple rectangle and not very detailed, very easy, I was glad. Everything went really well, until I pulled into my boyfriend [Colton's] driveway to take the cake over to him and his family, it was at that moment when the little guy decided to topple over on its back side. They loved it and thought it was delicious. But, I was irritated and am determined to find a way to keep these cakes from toppling over. Any ideas anyone?

The haunted house before it turned a back flip. :)

To support the cake and stabalize it, a straw placed down through the center of the cake works great. Great Cake!!!!

  4. Thanks Cherryl- That is such a good idea. Normally I used dowell rods in all my tiered cakes, I wish I had thought to add one here. But it was a great lesson learned.
